California’s history is rich with a diverse culture that we love to showcase when styling events up and down the coast. Inspired by local venues and their unique character, each event features details that hint at something authentic to the destination that we take pride in being able to share with our clients. Santa Barbara events offer many such details. With an experienced eye from our team, they all ultimately come together to create an overall aesthetic to set the tone for a great experience.
We had the pleasure of working at the Santa Barbara Historical Museum for one of our clients. The red tiled roofs and trickling courtyard fountain surrounded by adobes are architectural hallmarks of Spanish influence prevalent in this beachside community. Since it was set for a sunny summer, it only made sense to bring in pops of color to add a festive touch.
With linens featuring designs reminiscent of ornate blue and white tilework in the area, tables were topped with a collection of pieces featuring vibrant fuchsia, orange and green flowers to accent an elegant tablescape. A small piece of tile was set against the centerpiece and accented by deep blue votives that twinkled as the sun set.
Giveaways for each guest were created to ensure the memory of this night continued. Small llama pinatas and Dia de los Muertos sugar cookies from a local purveyor were a big hit to finish off this Southern California fiesta.
Offering a slightly different perspective of California, our team took this client to wine country creating a classic evening at Fess Parker Winery. Set amidst the rolling hillsides of Santa Barbara, the open field set the stage for a stunning evening under the stars where the community honors the natural resources that make up this dynamic micro-climate.
A large clear span tent created a more intimate space while keeping guests comfortable from the cooler night air. It offered guests the opportunity to still experience the vistas at the winery while providing some valuable elements for our design team to add some creative details to the space.
Chandeliers were hung from the tent structure to add a sophisticated lighting feature to work with the bistro lighting of the space. Delicate white drape was gathered along the side walls to soften the structure and hint at the light breeze outside.
Aside from these details, a very natural palette was selected to let the vineyard setting shine. Soft wooden chairs and a neutral linen were complimented by burgundy wine napkins and flowers that combined luxurious roses with rustic thistles and eucalyptus often found nearby.
Sometimes, the most impactful looks are created by a refined look that allows for what exists to take center stage. In California, we are grateful to have our history and natural beauty to work with as we create experiences for each occasion.
